Review: “Meditox”-providing solution for suboxone and opiate addiction

March 7th, 2008

The main goal of the site is to help you break you dependence upon opiates and narcotic drug use. “Meditox” provides effective home based medical detox program.
meditoxlogo.jpg

It provides information and treatment about “Opiate Addiction”.

What is Opiates?
Mostly pain relieve medications turn to drug abuse without knowing that patient is slowly being addicted to that medicine.
How the Opiated become addictive?
They affect the brain by activating “pleasure” centers that create euphoria while also reducing “pain” centers in the brain. Gradually the brain’s chemistry adjusts to the presence of opiates in the body, requiring increasingly more of the chemical to feel “normal”. And this normal feeling continually makes this addiction stronger.

* The site provides all necessary information about this addiction and you can get a free and confidential online assessment from it.

Furthermore if one thinks seriously about getting rid of medication addiction then first process is “suboxone detox”.

Suboxone detox is a combination of two drugs, buprenorphine and naloxone, which is prescribed for opiate addiction. Suboxone treatment can be taken at home. As medical detox is now available for either Suboxone or Subutex, which is provided in smaller and smaller doses, in the privacy of your home.

Today I am quoting few lines from an article which can help you stay stress free. This article is from Vicki R. Pierson who is a cancer survivor from 2 years and a certified personal trainer.

“Through regular practice of stress reduction techniques, symptoms of stress decrease and become more manageable.
For the most part, stress is largely under your control. You may not be able to control the situation, however, your reaction in any given situation is entirely under your control. One way to monitor and understand stress in your life is to record your feelings in a diary. Once you gain better awareness of the things that cause you stress, you can then build an action plan to positively manage it by creating some positive goals to help reduce the amount of stress in your daily life

Juice fasting- for weight loss!

December 29th, 2007

Main purpose of any detox diet is to get rid of toxins from our body. Denatured packaged products such as white floor, refined sugar, and all animal products such as red meat, poultry, fish and eggs produce toxins to our body. The best way to remove them from our body is to joice fast. There is no greater detoxification program for the healing and recovery of your body than juice fasting because of the antioxidant, cleansing power of freshly made juices.

There are many benefits of “Juice Fasting/diet”:
Much of the toxins stored in our body are in our body fat. One dramatic element is the immediate and dramatic loss of stored body fat. This has multiple health benefits.

Fasting demands the fat cells be used as fuel. As soon as the body needs calories the process or catabolism (tearing down) starts. Each pound of fat has approximately 3,500 calories, which becomes fuel for the body. As each day passes, you get thinner and thinner.

* Fasting implies abstaining. Juice fasting is a period when only fresh vegetable juices are taken as food. The usual experience is that the second day of the fast, the participant will remark as to how well they sleep and how well they feel. Their mind will be clear and they will feel ‘younger’ than they have for years. Vegetable juice contains the nutrients. The fiber is the package that it comes in. You need not worry about not having enough dietary fiber. There is plenty of fiber left, as your bathroom experiences will testify. The big difference is that you get very large amounts of the nutrients which your body immediately utilizes to provide energy, growth, and healing.

This process is so encouraging to your impoverished body that it immediately sets about the various healing processes that it has not been able to address because of the lack of nutritional resources.

“Master Cleanse”- A way of detoxification!

December 23rd, 2007

Detoxification can be done in many ways, but the intention behind each and every procedure is to cleanse our body from the toxins. “Master Cleanse detox diet” is a simple form of diet, which is called “Master” because of its popularity and effects.

Master Cleanse” according to Wikipedia :
The Master Cleanse detox diet, also known as the Lemonade Diet was created by Stanley Burroughs in 1941 and made popular by Peter Glickman through his book “Lose Weight, Have More Energy and Be Happier in 10 Days“.
More about “The Diet”:

Although the recipe varies from source to source the ingredients are generally the same. The Master Cleanse involves eating no solid food. Instead, you drink a mixture of lemon juice, maple syrup, water and Cayenne pepper.

This mix can be taken cold, as a cordial, or hot, as a tea. The mix contains some essential vitamins and minerals, and some sugars—avoiding the ketosis experienced on the Atkins diet or from pure water fasting. The Cayenne is used primarily for its effect of promoting metabolic activity.[citation needed]

As solid food is not eaten it is necessary to help the digestive system eliminate material and avoid constipation. This is achieved in two ways: laxative tea is taken every night, and in the morning, a large volume of lukewarm brackish water serves as a top-down enema. The salt in the water is salt-balanced compared to the blood; ie, the salt level sufficient that the water is not easily absorbed by the intestines[citation needed], yet not salty enough to make one gag as it is drunk or suffer from excess salt symptoms.[citation needed] This passes through the digestive system extremely quickly—30-60 minutes
The diet is for a recommended minimum of ten days, although it is not uncommon for people to stay on the cleanse for longer periods of time.

How detox diet helped “Morgan Spurlock”- American TV producer!

December 12th, 2007

May be many of us have watched the documentary film “Super Size Me” which was nominated as Academy Award in 2004. And the maker of this film is”Morgan Spurlock, American independent documentary film director, producer and screenwriter.
225px-super_size_me_poster.jpg

In his documentary film he demonstrated the health effects of McDonald’s food by eating nothing but McDonalds three times a day, every day, for one month. He supersized, each time he was offered, just like an average McDonald’s consumer would do.
“Super Size Me” was released in the U.S. on May 7, 2004, and later nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary feature. He conceived the idea for the film when he was at his parents’ house for Thanksgiving, and while watching TV saw a news story about a lawsuit brought against McDonalds by two teenage girls who blamed the fast food chain for their obesity.

The film depicts an experiment he conducted in 2003, in which he ate three McDonald’s meals a day every day (and nothing else) for 30 days, mandatory that he take the “super-size” option whenever it was offered, the end result being a diet with twice the calories recommended by the USDA. Further, Spurlock attempted to curtail his physical activity to better match the exercise habits of the average American (he previously walked about 3 miles a day whereas the average American walks 1.5 miles). Spurlock underwent a full examination at the beginning of the experiment, and was monitored by three different medical specialists throughout it. He was of above-average health and fitness when he started the project, but his health declined dramatically: he gained 25 pounds (11 kg), suffered liver dysfunction and developed symptoms of depression.

Spurlock’s supervising physicians noted the effects caused by his high-fat, high-carb diet—one even comparing it to a case of severe binge alcoholism.

After the completion of the project, it took Spurlock fourteen months to return to his normal weight of 185 pounds (84 kg).

His then-girlfriend (now wife), Alexandra Jamieson, took charge of his recovery with her “detox diet,” which became the basis for her book “The Great American Detox Diet”.

Detox diet is not for everyone!

December 2nd, 2007

First let’s look at the definition of “detox diet” again, which may help us understand about detoxification, and who need to do it?

According to Wikipedia:

A detox diet is a dietary regimen involving a change in consumption habits in an attempt to “detoxify” the body by removal of “toxins” or other contaminants. Proponents claim it improves health, energy, resistance to disease, mental state, digestion, as well as aiding in weight loss.”

Dr Sarah Brewer, author of ‘The Total Detox Plan’ says:

“One of the main benefits is that a detox gets you looking at your diet and lifestyle and making appropriate changes. Eating organic and cutting down on additives gets you caring for your body in a way you don’t always do.
“The more extreme varieties of detox diets are to be avoided though, according to Dr Brewer, who advocates gentler regimes.
“I would very much caution against more rigorous detoxes, such as those involving fasts or colonic irrigation - they’re not necessary,” she says.

She also advises detoxers to be alert to adverse reactions. “A furry tongue, headache or spots shows you are having a toxic detox reaction and you need to take things much more slowly.”

Detox diets are not for everyone. For instance, they are not recommended for anyone with diabetes, liver problems, gut ulcers or who is on warfarin therapy. In fact anyone who is receiving medical treatment for any condition should consult their doctor before embarking on a special diet.

If you have a well balanced diet and include all food groups as recommended in the Food Pyramid there is no need for detox diets. In reality people often use them as a kick start to a new healthy lifestyle, maybe as a New Year’s resolution. If you want to use a detox diet as a means to healthier you, then short term use is fine, any longer may lead to nutritional deficiencies.
